My appreciation of technology has grown proportionally to the distance of my families’ locations. Cayce, SC; Lake Norman, NC; Gibsonville, NC; Middleton, Wisconsin, and Huntsville, Alabama. At least these locations are closer than Phoenix and San Antonio homes we traveled to earlier in their lives. FaceTime, Messenger, Instagram, and cell phones have been a lifeline for me. Our family of five children plus spouses, nine grandchildren ages eight to twenty-three and one two-step great grand-baby are an incredible blessing, but impossible to keep up with. The third has entered college this year.
I continue to learn so much through all these relationships. They are woven into the fabric of my heart. In addition, fifty-three years of teaching and tutoring, many years of music, theatre, and church leadership continue to bring rich flavors to my days. The nature of mothering breathes into and out of everything I do. I work with children three to ninety-five in all these endeavors.
Besides a solid education, I have learned valuable practical lessons in life… especially from my mother, aunts, grandmothers, sisters and children.
I am passionate about people… especially little ones of every description. I revel in seeing my circle of humans grow into the realization of how unique and precious they are.
I am a big fan of movies …favorites: The Power of One, Les Miserables, Labyrinth, The Help, Steel Magnolias. I am partial to musical theatre: Sound of Music, The Greatest Showman, Pippin, Once, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Wizard of Oz (original), almost anything by Rogers and Hammerstein or Steven Sondheim.
I love reading books. The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen, The Alice Connection, The Politically Correct Gift Set by James Finn Garner, Timothy Keller’s Galations for You, History of the Scottish People by T.C. Smout, Terry Whalin’s Ten Publishing Myths, books about writing, Historical fiction, and any studies by Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth. Most recent reads are: This Is Where It Ends by Cindy Sproles, Ahoti by Eva Marie Everson, and anything in Lynnette Eason’s Romantic Suspense collections.
I have the best husband in the world. I don’t know why God honored us so by bringing us to where we are, but I am eternally grateful.
I also have the best children in the world. You may think yours are and that’s OK. I hope you do.

One of my favorite moments: For my seventieth birthday, my sweet husband arranged a weekend at Kilburnie, a lovely B and B near Lancaster, SC. This included flying in a glider for nearly an hour – soaring and circling over the farms below. We could see the tiniest view of the Charlotte skyline. That’s my pilot standing at the wingtip. He was sitting behind me so I had an amazing, clear sightline up with the eagles. We let loose the cable to the tow-plane at 3,000 feet. It was breath-taking and peaceful at the same time. So beautiful. Thanks, Murdoch. You are the love of my life.
