Previous: All About Me

I am amazed by two verses I have known for years. They grow richer and deeper daily.

Trust in the Lord always and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV). AND“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV).

September Book Reviews —

I just finished my second Cindy Sproles Appalachian fiction novel. My first, Mercy’s Rain, was a hard read, but an amazingly well-written book I would recommend to anyone who likes gripping stories with strong characters. But this second read for me was even deeper and and more haunting. This Is Where It Ends delves into the power regret can have over us and the strength of a promise. The Tennessee mountain setting and down-home people draw the reader deep into a quest for life and gold. Neither of these books has a sweet, rosy ending but they are ripe with hope.

After my mom died at ninety-nine and a half, I found her diary from 1937-1940. I met a young girl I never knew and reveled in her days from ages 18 to 21. Now that’s a treasure.

The stories of life events and “heard tales” are too rich to let go. So I write. We never know which stories will matter the most to our descendants…or to others. Try journalling. Start small…a line or two a day. I promise, if you don’t, you will forget. Don’t worry… you may be gone when people read it all. OR you may touch someone’s life today.

The boring stuff: Born in Kentucky, I became a Virginian at three weeks old as my dad took his first full time pastorate in Richmond, VA. From ages four to fifteen, I grew up in Farmville, Virginia, attended Prince Edward Academy for grades three through nine. On to Marion, VA, for three years and then, Radford University completing my BS in Music Education and then MS in Special Education, later becoming a National Board Certified teacher of Special Education , ages 2-21, primarily working with Learning Disabled, Emotionally Disabled and Mentally Disabled students and adults in various public education and church settings. The important stuff: I have loved writing since I was quite young. My passions are for helping others reach their God-given potential, for encouraging Christian growth and lifestyle, and for loving and serving others all I can. I am powerfully in love with my husband and we are partners in all endeavors. We make beautiful music together. Seriously! We both play piano and guitar; we write and arrange music. I am learning the cello and playing with xylophones.
