Nobody Ever Told Me…

Once a mother, always a mother.

My appreciation of technology has grown proportionally to the distance of my families’ locations. Cayce, SC; Lake Norman, NC; Gibsonville, NC; Middleton, Wisconsin, and Huntsville, Alabama. At least these are closer than Phoenix and San Antonio homes we traveled to earlier in their lives. FaceTime, Facebook, Messenger, and cell phones have been a lifeline for me. Our family of five children plus spouses, nine grandchildren ages seven to twenty-three and one two-step great grand-baby are an incredible blessing, but impossible to keep up with. The third one start enters college next year with the two older girls are finishing up degrees next year.

I continue to learn so much through all these relationships. They all creep into my from the fabric of my heart. Forty years of teaching and tutoring and so many years doing music and theatre continue to bring rich flavors to my days. The nature of mothering bleeds into and out of them all.

The stories of our events and tales are too rich to let go. So I write. We never know which stories will matter the most to our descendants…or to others. Try journalling. Start small… a line or two a day. I promise, if you don’t, you will forget.
