Nobody Ever Told Me, but by the grace of God . . .

I am and have been exactly where I need to be.

Whenever I am wondering what to do and ask God to tell me, Micah 6:8 comes to mind: He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
     and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,

     and to walk humbly with your God? (NRSV)

I usually ask for a postcard, signed “God”. So far I haven’t gotten one. So I resort to this as my postcard reminder.

How hard can this be? Be fair, be kind, be humble.

I have to recognize (again) that life is not focused on me. In order to express, fairness, kindness, and humility, I must be with people: family, church, community, workplace. Adhering to these three instructions demonstrates who I belong to. Jesus’ entire message hinges on how God’s children relate to Him and to others.

Even a child is known by his doings. Proverbs, 20:11 (KJV)

So are the grown-ups. I pray my life will shine with justice, mercy, and humility. Everything else will fall into place.
